Ever wonder how people tweet using cute little symbols like this? ☻ ♥ ☎ ☺
I have! So I decided to figure out how they do it. It's amazingly easy! A website called The Next Web put all the symbols on a page called Twitter Keys. All you do is double click on the one you want and copy and paste it into your tweet. To make it easier to access, you might want to bookmark the page in your browser. For instructions, click on The Next Web.

Besides looking cute, the symbols can be useful for a couple of other reasons:
1.) It extends your word count. When you use a symbol, you save letters. And with only 140 characters, you often need every character you can get.
2.) With so many, many tweets out there, symbols can help your tweets stand out.

Oooh-I didn't know about this site. There are also keyboard shortcuts you can use.
ReplyDelete*Go to your start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools, character map. There you will find a bunch (and the keys to use to get them).
I love the little symbols and I've even seen people make pictures out of them!! The only issue I have is that I usually use TweetDeck and I guess TweetDeck doesn't have integration for these because you can't use them in your tweets and they don't show up in others' tweets.
Great tip Melinda--off to check the website out!
Nifty! And if they save me some characters then that's even more awesome. Thanks and will be checking the site out now. :D
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteI can't get either of your codes to copy and paste. I had the bathtub one on my sidebar and now there is an empty spot where it used to live. FYI. :O)
AWESOME! I love these but didn't know how to do them or have the time to figure it out! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteAWWWWWWWW - then I just read Kristen's comment and I use Tweetdeck too! Ah well, I can still use them on the once in while times I do Twitter direct and hope Tweetdeck adjusts for them eventually.
Thanks for the heads up from BOTH of you :) :) :)
PS I have a riddle for my post today but I'll give y'all a clue and an invite if you haven't already joined in - blog action day - blogactionday.org - I'm doing it with a focus on World Vision! :) :) :)
I just started Twitting this week so I'm no longer a Tuesday lurker!
ReplyDeleteThanks for good stuff
