If you were a fly on the wall at my house, you'd be sure to hear your share of fussing, complaining and whining. Maybe even a slammed door or two.

But enough about me.

In the pressure cooker that's parenting, I have exploded more than once. And it's harder to clean up than spaghetti night with a toddler.

So after years spent indulging in fruitless self-flogging, I finally let go of my obsession with getting it all 'just right.' I confess...I'm not a perfect parent.

Whew. That felt good.

Now, when my son saunters in with his 42nd tardy of the school year, I let it go. When I hear myself hollering "Whatever!" at my teenage daughter, I move on.

Having it all together is overrated anyway.

And I've determined not to waste God's grace. I'll never get it just right. You won't, either. So read on, sister. If you see a little of yourself in me, I hope it helps to know that you're not alone. Nope. If you're a mom, face it. You're never, ever alone.

Operation Organization: Home Sweet Home

We came. We saw. We waged war.

Thanks to everyone who participated in my eight-week Operation Organization Challenge! It was wonderful to see so many of you reclaiming your homes.

I received comments and emails from a number of you who said a more organized home had greatly improved your mental health and family life. Now there's a cause worth fighting for, soldiers!

Speaking of relationships, my family relationships have required an extra measure of TLC lately. So, at the risk of disappointing you, I do not have a Week 8 Victory to share with you.

I don't want to ever lose sight of a priceless lesson I learned the hard way years ago: Tasks should never trump relationships.

Bearing that in mind, I'm confident that my home efforts were well-directed this week.

You all are the best!
Melinda

  1. You did it!

I'm still working on home projects. This afternoon, I painted the French doors in our den.

They look pretty good if I do say so.

Glad Micah's visit to the doc went well.

    Let's talk soon.

  2. Way to go - I really enjoyed all of the posts and wish I could have participated more - between blogging and homeschooling and my husband's schedule - it just didn't happen - but I enjoyed watching you do it hehehe!!! Now the next chapter...maintaining - that's the hardest part of organizing for me - maintaining it and keeping it that way!

Way to go! I am positive your family was blessed!

  5. Thank you for the encouragement this past few weeks. I understand you. There were weeks when other areas in my life needed more attention than my house. Family is more important than having a super organized home.

  9. Thank you for the challenge it really helped me to realize most things are in place but just needed a few tweaks.
This week I worked on organizing and getting ready for the womans show I put on with my friend which is happening next Sat. I also was working on getting votes for my daughter in a contest she entered at the local mall. If you would like to vote for her there is no sign up for anything all you do is go to http://myredcarpetexperience.com/fairviewpark
Then go to age category 7-11 second row gray hat.
    Thanks for helping us .
This week both of my challenges continue the voting ends on Monday night at midnight. Then really concentrating on organizing the floor plan for the womans show.
Thanks again for all the help and support.
